To run the Centre for one year costs approximately £160,000. This represents almost £1000 per member! At present we receive no grant funding and in order to raise this amount we have a variety of methods. A sub-committee is in place to provide a focus for all the fundraising activities and to be a catalyst for bringing ideas to fruition. As we are a self-help group it is the intention that members undertake the fundraising events and so we always need volunteers. Please bring your ideas to us. Charity ShopThe successful shop in East Street is a steady source of income. Staffed by enthusiastic volunteers a variety of items from clothing to furniture can be obtained. Good quality goods are always needed to sell and can be taken directly to the shop or the Centre. If you would like to be involved, why not become a volunteer and help out at the shop for a few hours a week? Contact the Manager at the shop or the Centre Manager at Bradbury House. Supermarket CollectionsSupermarket Collections are held throughout the area from March until October. On average we manage to get permission for about 30 collections. Getting volunteers is our biggest challenge and we desperately need more people to come forward if this is to remain viable. It makes no difference if collectors are able bodied or wheelchair bound, so everyone can help. Please see the Centre Manager and offer your help. There is always a supermarket near your home where we collect. If you feel there is a possible collection site from which we are not benefiting, please let us know. Therapy DonationsIn an ideal world, every member would receive free therapies at the Centre but reality dictates that, at present, this is not possible. On current costings, the Centre subsidises each therapy by approximately £20. The system of members giving donations will need to continue until we are in a position to be able to fund the total amount. Naturally, if members are unable, through personal circumstances, to afford the therapies the Manager will use her discretion to provide the therapy without donation. The Trustees constantly monitor the financial situation in order to arrive at the desirably position of free therapies for all.
CROSSING THE IMBER 2009 Sunday 20th September is your opportunity to walk through the deserted village of Imber and raise money for the Centre whilst enjoying this 10 mile event. Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are also able to participate as the entire route is surfaced. Contact the Centre on 01985 217728 for an information and reistration pack. |
